The Opportunity: 

Are you a student looking for an exciting opportunity, that is full of meaningful, diverse, and ambitious assignments working alongside industry leading professionals? Our team of Process Safety engineering team implements a wide variety of tasks, process hazard analysis, risk assessments, inspection deferral studies and apply these risk management applications to ensure that our Asset Integrity Programs are executed with optimal effectiveness on Canadian Natural infrastructure across an extensive network of assets in Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC. These roles collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including operations, Process Engineering, Asset Integrity & Reliability Engineering. 

In this exciting opportunity, you will gain exposure to a dynamic multi-disciplinary teams, working together to run safe, and reliable value streams. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about regulations, corporate standards, best practices and becoming familiar with Corporate Risk Matrix and its application in risk assessments. Including, learning about various Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies used in incident investigations.   • Job location: Fort McMurray, AB - Horizon or Albian Sands
  • Shift schedule: 4 x 3 - 10 hours (Monday - Thursday)

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Participate in Risk reviews and support engineering assessments for new and existing risks
  • Review and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to ensure operating assets are being run and maintained
  • Provide process safety and integrity support to ongoing operation, maintenance and new projects
  • Participate and perform failure analysis of failed components
  • Provide recommendations for repair and develop mitigation strategies

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor Degree program in Chemical Engineering preferred, Mechanical Engineering acceptable
  • Required to be physically and mentally fit for work
  • Responsible attitude towards safety, demonstrate leadership and enjoy problem solving
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract
  • A pre-employment drug and alcohol test must be completed
