As an engineering student joining our sustaining capital team, you will be integrated into our Horizon Project and Facilities Engineering team and will assist in the execution of multi-disciplinary capital projects. You will gain experience in the design, construction, modification, operation and optimization of our plant facilities. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and experience in engineering, project management and field construction while working along side with senior project engineers assigned to specific business areas.
- Term length: 8, 12 or 16 months
- Term start: January, May or September 2025
- Job location: Fort McMurray, AB - Albian Sands or Horizon Mine Operations
- Shift schedule: 4 x 3 - 10 hours (Monday - Thursday)

Key Accountabilities:
- Develop detail engineering by the in-house and 3rd party engineering contractors ensuring all engineering deliverables and contractual obligations are met
- Participate in various internal project activities including HAZOPS, 3D model reviews, procurement activities, deliverables review process, ensuring that all required information for the contractor is adequate and timely
- Assist the construction group in the proper review and resolution of all engineering and technical issues that arise outside the approved engineering design
- Database development and organization
- Maintenance of project engineering tools and templates (Word, Excel, Maximo, etc.)
- Field walk downs during construction and measure construction progress
- Contract formation and manage change order to support construction
What You Bring to The Role:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor Engineering or Master’s Degree Program. All Engineering disciplines welcome
- Good knowledge of the basics of Excel and analytical skills
- Good understanding of pressure vessels, pressure piping & valves
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic and positive aptitude
- A pre-employment drug and alcohol test must successfully be complete
