The opportunity

The Senior Manager, Real Estate Accounts role offers an exceptional opportunity for a qualified credit professional to oversee the Account Specialists and Business Coordinators, guiding the strategic direction, and supporting the Relationship Management leads with credit underwriting and administrative tasks. The role requires independent activity, team influence, and thorough knowledge of credit policies and procedures.

Areas of focus
  • Team Management: Provide direct oversight and accountability for the performance and development of Account Specialists and Business Coordinators. Championing CWB values and drive change in alignment with CWB strategy.

  • Actively engage in performance management and personal development processes for all team members, therefore facilitate ongoing training and development, focusing on risk assessment, underwriting, credit structuring, and presentation skills.

  • Lead the team in achieving departmental financial objectives through effective credit underwriting and deal administration.

  • Assist the team in identifying comprehensive financial solutions for clients, aiming to be the primary financial partner.as well as, assist the AVP & Manager, Real Estate Accounts in developing recommendations for driving deeper business relationships and/or effectively managing emerging risks with existing clientele.

  • Support the team in optimizing the profitability of client relationships within the assigned portfolio, considering return guidelines and risk profiles.

  • Ensure prudent lending and proactive risk management, including timely monitoring, due diligence, and issue resolution within the credit portfolio.

  • Ensure team compliance with all CWB policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including completion of required training and attestations.

  • Collaborate with other CWB teams to ensure efficient and effective operations with strong data integrity and adherence to internal audit and compliance objectives.

Successful incumbent

Education

  • Bachelors’ Degree in business or related discipline, financial designation preferred or equivalent experience

Professional Experience

  • 7+ years financial services experience within functions of real estate lending, risk management, banking and/or business lending, including direct experience leading people and managing teams.

  • Experience in credit adjudication supported by well-developed skills in financial statement analysis and knowledge of effective risk mitigation strategies for commercial credit underwriting.

  • Expertise in commercial lending across the majority of industries in which CWB operates, while continuously building knowledge and staying up-to-date with industry trends and industry key risks.

  • Demonstrated acumen in team building, leadership, coaching, mentoring, communication, and planning skills.
