About this opportunity:
Cenovus’s Upstream Financial Team is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team in our Calgary office.
The successful candidate for this role will perform time sensitive tasks related to monthly/quarterly/annual accounting close, reporting and analysis, and system upload of annual budget and monthly forecasts for Asia Pacific business. Additional responsibilities will include providing Hong Kong legal entity financial statements audits support, balance sheet account reconciliations, and ad hoc projects. In this role, you will contribute to the identification and implementation of solutions that improve efficiencies and effectiveness by eliminating, simplifying and/or automating various reporting processes.
What you’ll do:
Prepare, post, analyze and explain routine and ad hoc accounting entries in SAP for Hong Kong legal entities primarily Husky Energy (HK) Limited
Timely preparation and completion of the Asia Pacific reporting model, drafting commentaries for the Performance Management Reports (PMR)
Analyze/understand budget assumptions to assist monthly PMR analysis and provide insights for forecasts
Prepare the quarterly income analysis
Prepare and distribute weekly Asia Pacific production updates to the leadership team
Assist in fixed asset related analysis including DD&A, ROU assets, AUC assets, ARO, etc
Prepare management accounts and supporting schedules of seven Hong Kong legal entities to support the FS audits and respond to audit queries
Perform SOX controls including monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, segment notes and net-back BU confirmation, etc
Perform master data request and maintenance (cost centers, profit centers, GLs, allocation assessment)
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Economics or related degree
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting/financial reporting role
Demonstrated proficiency in data management and spreadsheet applications (Excel and other MS office applications)
The following training / certifications are considered an asset:
Accounting designation (CPA)
Experience working within the oil and gas industry
Experience utilizing SAP for analysis and reporting purposes
