About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking two motivated and execution-focused Geologists to support the Foster Creek and Christina Lake Geoscience Development teams. Reporting to the Manager, Foster Creek Geoscience Development, and Manager, Christina Lake Geoscience Development these roles will involve working in multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful planning and execution of Cenovus' development plans helping supporting our long-term strategy. The primary focus will be on drilling SAGD well pairs, collaborating closely with asset geoscientists, wellsite geologists, and the drilling department. These positions are based in the Calgary office and include on-call responsibilities outside of normal office hours.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with integrated subsurface, development, and well delivery teams to prepare for and complete the drilling of SAGD well pads

  • On-call responsibilities working directly with wellsite geologists and drilling to optimize lateral trajectories and ensure adherence to standard process guidelines while optimizing resource capture

  • Use various suites of geological data including routine wireline logs, image logs, core descriptions and analysis, and petrophysical information to understand the pad area and optimize lateral trajectories through geo-steering

  • Support efforts to appraise and delineate potential resource for future thermal development

  • Work closely with asset team members in compiling pre-drill and updating post-drill data; prepare documentation and presentations for technical reviews, lookbacks, and knowledge shares

  • Ensure consistency in execution practices while fostering effective communication across disciplines

  • Support workflow optimization projects with the intent of improving geoscience execution deliverables

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Professional Geoscientist with APEGA accreditation and eligibility for APEGS accreditation

  • 4+ years of Geoscience experience and/or SAGD thermal development experience

  • Experience with Petrel

  • Models the values of Cenovus in all interactions
