About this opportunity:

The Workplace team owns, delivers, and optimizes safe environments to enable Cenovus staff to perform their best work in Canada and the US. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Workplace, the Manager, Workplace Field and US will be a subject matter expert to set US and Field workplace and infrastructure strategy, standards, and guidelines for workplace aligned with Cenovus Corporate (Canada) governance.

This position works closely with the US and Canada Conventional, Downstream and Offshore teams to provide workplace environments that enable staff to do their best work through workspaces and workplace infrastructure while remaining flexible to grow/contract as business priorities change. This includes leading US and Canada Field operations, workspace management, construction projects and records management.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of workplace planning, construction, and operations as well as experience with commercial construction projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Represent Workplace and Real Estate on Cenovus acquisition and divestiture projects

  • Provide governance and oversight of workplace design and space allocation standards for regional and field offices in the US and Canada

  • Collaborate with key enabling functions in HR, Security, Wellness, Communications, IT, Supply Chain Management; Workplace and Real Estate and Field teams to plan and complete workplace initiatives

  • Project manage workplace improvement initiatives, coordinate and supervise the work of vendors, business partners and contractors.

  • Develop supply chain sourcing strategy for construction and other services in the US and Canada Field

  • Strengthen risk management by promoting a risk-based approach and using tools to improve operational efficiencies

  • Accountable for Incident, Emergency Management and Business Continuity including learning from past events to continuously improve our performance

  • Develop long range non-process infrastructure plans and assess workplace metrics to conduct a comparative analysis with industry and corporate benchmarks

  • Provide planning and execution for office based construction and renovation projects (including project management, schedules, deliverables, budget reporting, communications)

  • Lead direct reports/US and Field team, manage budgets, planning, construction and operations, while coaching and developing staff to align individual performance with organizational goals

  • Foster and develop relationships with Indigenous Business Partners to support with Indigenous spending targets

  • Develop key performance indicators and dashboard to provide data-based performance decisions to optimize cost and business results

  • Manage US-based Workforce Infrastructure projects, ensuring adhere to the Cenovus Project Delivery System (PDS) and maintaining facility condition indices for five-year opex and capex planning

  • Supervise project execution, including budget management, reporting, and approval of change orders, while ensuring compliance with turnover and acceptance standards

  • Develop and implement change management plans to minimize risks and ensure successful project adoption and sustainability for affected collaborators and staff

  • Ensure safety practices through role clarification, training, safety leadership, COIMS gap assessment, HSE data enhancement, risk register awareness and contractor management alignment

  • Prioritize ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) standards for sustainability and corporate responsibility while following with Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations for safe working conditions

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada and be able to travel to the US

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Architecture, Project Management, or equivalent Facilities related work experience

  • PMP, CFM, FMP, LEED AP, WELL AP or other recognized certification/membership is considered an asset

  • Minimum 12 years experience in leading people with a proven track record of supervising, developing and coaching staff

  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading commercial construction and space planning projects, workplace operations, or closely related function

  • Exceptional ability to engage with partners and a solid background in planning and communication

  • Experience partnering with procurement processing for construction, design, furniture procurement suppliers and services, including assisting in the evaluation of RFP’s, tender bids

  • Detailed knowledge of building code regulations and safety codes, safety processes and procedures

  • Proficient in MS Project and SharePoint

  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex projects and workflow to ensure efficient and exceptional outcomes

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects across teams and implement successful change management plans

  • Manage large capital and operating expense budgets
