About this opportunity:

The Program Cost Control Advisor is responsible for providing program level cost control for Upstream Oilsands Operational drivers (Repairs & Maintenance, Waste Fluid Hauling & Trucking and Workforce). The successful individual would be self-motivated, possess proactive and strong problem solving skills, and builds collaborative relationships with collaborators.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and monitoring cost tracking, control protocols, systems, and workflow processes

  • Develop yearly/multi-year long range maintenance plans and annual budgeting exercises

  • Define and track key performance indicators related to scope control, cost management and evaluate project performance against established benchmarks

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture accurate cost data and provide detailed monthly cost estimates and forecasts

  • Monitor and analyze cost variances, providing timely reports and recommendations to optimize driver budget management

  • Manage monthly cost reports, spend profiles, change management, KPIs, estimates/accruals and other related deliverables.

  • Generate regular progress reports, highlighting key achievements, value capture, challenges, and recommended corrective actions.

  • Quantify risks and opportunities and support development of mitigation plans as required with key team members.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost control effectiveness.

  • Communicate cost management strategies and update internal and external partners, fostering transparency and collaboration.

  • Collaborate with Site Leadership, Execution Teams, Engineering, and other team members to align cost management with overall annual budget ($80-150MM) and business goals.

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of experience working in business analytics and cost controls is required.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Managerial Accounting or Finance is preferred; a suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered

  • PMP or MMP designations would be considered an asset

  • High level understanding of maintenance structure and workflows is considered an asset
