About this opportunity:

As part of the Corporate Planning department, you will report to the Manager of Enabling Planning and directly support multiple enabling functions such as People Services, Finance, Sustainability, Community/Government Affairs, Corporate, and Legal. Your main responsibilities will be to lead the five-year business plan process with your enabling clients, work with cross-functional teams to steward the company’s Managed G&A process, and partner with key collaborators to measure financial and operational performance.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the five-year business plan process for assigned Enabling functions in alignment with corporate objectives and Corporate Planning guidance

  • Steward the Managed G&A process to ensure consistency across the Upstream, Downstream, Commercial, and Enabling functions

  • Manage partner relationships to encourage collaboration, resolve conflict, achieve consensus, and facilitate action

  • Develop and communicate proactive timelines and priorities for the enabling teams to achieve Corporate Planning objectives

  • Partner with Finance to support the forecast process by providing insights and forecast recommendations to cross-functional leadership teams

  • Understand and communicate risks and opportunities related to the five-year business plan and forecast

  • Work closely with Enabling function leadership teams to develop business plans, set priorities, and measure performance

  • Prepare materials for the Cenovus Leadership Teams and Board of Directors as it pertains to the five-year business plan

  • Conduct in-depth analysis to present budget recommendations to the enabling function leadership teams based on standard processes and thoroughly document budget assumptions

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis to support strategy sessions, five-year business plans, and investor day

  • Guide the assigned Enabling functions through the Capital Allocation Framework and Investment Committee process

  • Lead process lookback discussions with internal and external partners to identify process improvements

  • Develop business insight and business acumen across the Enabling functions

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • 8+ years of progressive work experience in oil & gas with financial, accounting, asset development, operations, major projects, enabling functions, or operations knowledge

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field

  • Highly organized, proactive, and adaptive to deliver time-sensitive material with competing priorities

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills that enable the delivery of polished and professional materials to all management levels, including senior leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex financial information and translate into concise, high-impact key messaging

  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data

  • Anticipate and communicate risk to the business plan or financial performance

  • Build trusting partnerships by actively listening, encouraging collaboration, and motivating action

  • Actively engage and influence across cross-functional and leadership teams to drive consistency, seek opportunities for process improvement, and inspire change

  • Ensures discretion with confidential data and information

  • Proficiency in Excel is required and prior experience with SAP, PowerBI Dashboards, and Spotfire is considered an asset
