About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory & OI Assurance, the Senior Regulatory Compliance Advisor will be accountable for providing technical and functional leadership in regulatory compliance and assurance for the business unit and coordinating and facilitating audits for various operational scopes. Additionally, this role will champion the implementation of regulatory processes that are aligned with the Cenovus Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS) and ensure compliance to regulatory standards and requirements specific to the operations of the business. This position will partner with the leadership of the business unit to continue evolving the culture of regulatory excellence with a focus on continuous improvement.

This position will require occasional travel to our Lloydminster and Hardisty offices, as well as other field locations.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for delivering on annual strategic goals and objectives laid out in the Regulatory Compliance & OI Assurance performance contract

  • Ensure that the Regulatory Compliance Program is functioning as designed and in alignment with all elements within COIMS. Conduct compliance assurance activities as planned to completion across the lifecycle of Husky Midstream’s assets (i.e., manage compliance registers, conduct self-assessments, and close-out corrective action plans)

  • Point person for Operational audits and support Husky Midstream operations staff to help track and report findings, corrective actions, and help facilitate audit report closeout

  • Support and/or lead the response to internal and external audits, inspections, information requests, and other compliance verifications from provincial and federal regulatory bodies

  • Proactively identify potential red flags or compliance concerns and recommend corrective or remedial actions to ensure operational compliance, including the escalation of unresolved/non-compliant cases to leadership

  • Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on the Regulatory Compliance Program to present to leadership (i.e., compliance statistics, audit and assurance results, out-standing corrective actions)

  • Coach and mentor leaders and staff on regulatory standards and requirements to help improve their knowledge and assist with driving work in a compliant fashion. This includes collaboration with leadership to meet and/or exceed Performance Metrics outlined in the Husky Midstream performance contract

  • Perform Self Verification assessments for various scopes within Husky Midstream

  • Support planning and verifying LOD1 activities are complete and in compliance

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a regulatory compliance, assurance, or auditing environment

  • Related post-secondary education or equivalent experience is required

  • Relevant accreditations and/or related training (e.g., ISO 14001, 14004, 9001, 27001, 19011, etc) is considered an asset

  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements and frameworks in an oil and gas environment, specifically for pipeline and tank storage operations

  • Experience working with operational compliance programs and software (e.g., Enablon, Intelex, Sphera, etc) is considered an asset

  • Proficient problem solver with previous leadership experience, able to critically assess complex or ambiguous challenges and provide strategic recommendations on a timely basis using the best available information

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and lead cross-functional teams
