THE POSITION

Join our Complementary Educational Services team as a Development Officer in Prevention and Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles, specializing in psychoactive substances. Your role will be essential in creating a healthy and positive school environment. You will work directly with students and groups of students to prevent, promote, and detect affective, social, academic, or family difficulties while establishing favorable conditions for their psychosocial development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Makes the portrait of each of the high schools regarding the use of psychoactive substances by students (Quebec High School, St. Patrick and Dollard des Ormeaux) using the COMPASS survey data and other local data
  • Makes a summary of the needs in terms of promotion and prevention of addictions
  • Elaborates, promotes, animates activities d the prevention of substance addiction a
  • Elaborates, promotes, animates promotion of positive mental programs and activities
  • Liaisons with other organisms offering promotion and prevention activities
  • Offers information sessions for parents on the topic
  • Supports school personnel in meeting the prevention needs in schools
  • Writes reports on the situation and makes appropriate recommendations to help decision making
  • Can be called upon to help deescalate a crisis or emergency and to offer solutions to the school team
  • Participes in AQCIDE trainings
  • Takes part in the SPA Professional Learning Community of the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale
  • Prepares and maintains files up to date according to the norms of the profession and the rules of the school board; writes reports and notes about activities, process and interventions.

*This position does not include regular individual follow ups with students. Short term touch base only.*

Requested skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Certificate in addiction an asset
  • An excellent knowledge of oral and written English and a good knowledge of oral and written French
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, principals, parents, and supervisor
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various schools within the Capitale-Nationale territory
  • Ability to establish relationships which demonstrate courtesy, respect, and integrity
  • Respect of the orientation and of the values of the school and the community
