THE POSITION
The primary and usual role of an employee in this job class is to assist transportation managers by performing technical duties such as developing routes, scheduling, drafting contracts and regulations, and ensuring their enforcement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determine school bus routes based on student and course data, while considering school board policies, student safety, municipal regulations, costs, and various constraints; map out the routes on topographical maps.
- Act as an intermediary between school administrators and transportation providers.
- Schedule transportation times by collecting data on courses, student lists, and residential addresses; compile, analyze, and synthesize this data; prepare reports, including those for school organization.
- Prepare or assist in developing transportation regulations for transport providers, bus drivers, and students; monitor how well transport providers meet their obligations and maintain records on each.
- Participate in budget forecasting for transportation services.
- Respond to parents’ inquiries; may also organize information sessions for staff, students, parents, and drivers; may assist in driver training; liaise with municipal representatives, police, or other school board services on matters within their area of responsibility.
- May be required to assist a representative from the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) during inspections. May participate in committees.
- Analyze reports related to complaints or accidents, implement corrective actions or make appropriate recommendations.
- Oversee the assignment of parking spaces for buses and other vehicles, ensuring regulations are enforced.
- Ensure enforcement of discipline rules on board school buses and, when necessary, recommend appropriate measures to the relevant school administration for students involved.
- May oversee or issue bus passes.
- Use computers and relevant software to carry out duties; conduct research and may assist other staff in using job-specific software.
- May be required to train less experienced technicians and coordinate the work of support staff involved in technical operations.
- Perform any other related duties as required.

- Hold a Diploma of College Studies in business administration with an option appropriate for the class of employment or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
The candidates who wish to be considered for this position will undertake tests to evaluate their knowledge in English and French writing, in Word and Excel.
