Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, organize, direct, and supervise the department program which includes recreational, restorative care, pastoral care, social work, music therapist and volunteers.
  • Implement and evaluate program relating to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents.
  • Coordinate activities with those of other departments and inform administration of departmental activities, needs and problems.
  • Develop departmental goals and objects.
  • Actively participate in program delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programming budget.
  • Satisfy Health Record as they pertain to the department (MDS experience an asset)

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university required
  • Knowledge of the concepts of Restorative care, Holistic care, Activation and Dementia Care
  • Minimum one-year supervisory experience
  • Experience in planning, developing and evaluating effectiveness of individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and have a command of the English language.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, MOHLTC standards
  • Previous supervisory experience in long term care an asset
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required
  • Designated Lead, Volunteers
  • At least one year of experience with seniors in an organized program or one year of experience with persons in a health care setting required
  • Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement and supervision of volunteers required
