Your Mission

As the Workshop Manager, you will play a key role in the operation of our business. Responsible for the planning and maintenance of our fleet of equipment, you will oversee repairs, manage inventory, and coordinate the shipment of equipment to various job sites.

You will also be in charge of managing the purchase of parts and equipment, planning maintenance interventions, and ensuring that our operations comply with high safety and quality standards.

What we are looking for

If you have at least 5 years of experience in workshop management or a related field, preferably in an industrial or handling environment, you are the ideal candidate. Your experience enables you to effectively coordinate operations, plan maintenance interventions, and optimize equipment management.

Based in Labrador City-Fermont, you will be required to travel to Baie-Comeau and Sept-Îles.

Specifically, the main responsibilities of the Workshop Manager are to:

Planning and Coordinating Repairs and Maintenance

  • Participate in planning the execution of repairs, maintenance schedules, and mandatory equipment inspections to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Ensure follow-up with suppliers and transporters to guarantee the timely and accurate delivery of goods or materials to the right locations
  • Participate in maintaining systems, processes, and control measures, ensuring they are applied in accordance with directives

Inventory and Stock Management

  • Maintain and control the necessary quantity of materials and goods in stock
  • Maintain the inventory of tools and accessories for the mechanical workshop and ensure their organization
  • Prepare, consolidate, and provide mechanics with the necessary parts for regular maintenance and planned interventions

Purchasing Management and Supplier Relations

  • Handle various purchases from established suppliers
  • Purchase required items as per delegation
  • Ensure follow-up with suppliers and transporters
  • Pay special attention to supplier management and control of maintenance/repair costs

Data Entry and Administrative Management

  • Enter data into the company's maintenance management software
  • File requests, supplier forms, and other documents
  • Update files and the filing system

Logistics and Shipping Management

  • Ensure the receipt and verification of goods, including their internal redistribution, and oversee the shipping of equipment to job sites or other designated locations
  • Publish shipping documents (manifests, shipping letters, hazardous material documents)
  • Occasionally coordinate the rental of vehicles

Invoice Management and Accounting Follow-Up

  • Receive, reconcile with appropriate purchase orders, code invoices, verify their compliance, submit for approval, and forward to the accounting department for payment

Health and Safety Systems

  • Maintain WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) records

Working conditions

  • Permanent
  • Schedule of 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM)

Requested skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Valid driver's license
  • Sense of responsibility and commitment

  • Resourcefulness, autonomy, good judgment and flexibility
  • Experience and/or knowledge in heavy machinery or general mechanics
