Business Development Consultant

As a Business Development Consultant, you will be responsible for generating leads for our consulting teams in Ontario and Western Canada. Your primary focus will be on Group Insurance (GB) and Group Retirement Services (GRS). You will play a critical role in building our client base by engaging with corporate clients, employer associations, and industry professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in promotional campaigns with Employer Associations, identifying warm prospects in GB and GRS.
  • Directly solicit corporate clients (50 to 1,000 employees) to offer GB and GRS services.
  • Maintain and manage prospect data in our CRM system, collaborating with the Director of Business Development to assign leads.
  • Follow up on assigned opportunities, ensuring prospects move forward in the sales pipeline.
  • Attend multiple industry conferences annually, developing relationships with U.S.-based firms to create sustainable distribution channels in Canada.
  • Promote our exclusive and related products.
  • Participate in sales and practice committee meetings, taking ownership of assigned projects.
  • Represent the company at conferences, seminars, and training sessions, producing event reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

  • College or University degree (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in sales or recruiting.
  • Experience in group insurance is an asset but not required.
  • Must obtain a Life and Health Insurance License from Ontario.
  • Strong understanding of sales processes and proficiency with CRM tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English).
  • Ability to travel frequently; must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and resourcefulness.
  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and discretion with confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a dynamic environment.
