Claims Associate

Our client is a highly established insurance provider, currently seeking to hire a Claims Associate to join their team in Toronto.

This is a hybrid position based in downtown Toronto. The successful applicant should expect to work from the company's Toronto office 2 days per week. The Claims Associate is responsible for assisting all members of the claims team with claims handling and investigations and acts as the point of contact for customers and a network of broker partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing support to the claims team and management in order to meet the objectives of handling claims efficiently and effectively
• Fata entry, updating information in a variety of Claim technologies, issuing payments and adjusting reserves as per the claim’s procedures
• Managing correspondence in the claims process on behalf of the claims team (notification, case reserves, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, settlement subrogation, reinsurance recoveries, and closure
• Responding to inquiries on the status of claims from brokers and customers
• Providing support and coordinating claims management meetings including committee meetings
• Conducting research and reports on specific issues related to claims and risk management working with management
• Other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 1 year experience in insurance claims, risks, or underwriting is preferred
• Degree or College Diploma or equivalent insurance experience
• CIP designation complete or in progress
• Effective and professional negotiation, selling, and advocating skills and the ability to organize and complete work on time and within budget
• Expert in customer service
• Effective written and oral communication skills are required
• Able to work on-site from downtown Toronto office 2 days per week
