Senior Estimator

My client is a diversified construction company that is looking for a Senior Estimator with experience on large scale industrial construction projects.

The Preconstruction Estimator is tasked with overseeing the estimating process for assigned projects or specific project components requiring specialized knowledge. This role is accountable for the quality of work produced under their supervision and involves close collaboration with the owner, design consultant, and project manager to develop cost plans, conduct value engineering, perform cost-saving exercises, and establish the project budget.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties include the following;

  • Fosters and sustains a positive working relationship with the owner and their representatives, in collaboration with Business Acquisition, by understanding the owner’s specific proposal and project needs.
  • Generates detailed quantity take-offs and estimates costs for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure ACL obtains competitive pricing for estimates.
  • Oversees the estimating process, including assessing site conditions, adhering to safety requirements, soliciting quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, interpreting project drawings and specifications, preparing quantity surveys, pricing estimates, and calculating costs for General & Special Conditions.
  • Identifies and assesses potential project risks and supports management with risk analysis.

Pre-Construction Procurement

  • Lead the internal construction project kickoff meeting and handle administrative project setup.
  • Actively contribute to the development of procurement plans, labor and equipment forecasts, logistics plans, site workflows, project risk registers, and overall project plans.
  • Create bid packages, including scopes of work, drawing sets, specifications, etc.
  • Monitor and manage the preconstruction schedule.
  • Engage in design, constructability, and value engineering reviews. Collaborate with the project manager, owner, consultants, suppliers, and trades to identify and develop value engineering opportunities.
  • Prepare and oversee project budgets and estimates during the design development phase.
  • Supervise the tendering process, risk assessment, and recommendations for awarding sub-trade contracts.
