Senior Tax Associate

Our client is a leading law firm with a strong presence and reputation, and are looking to grow their Vancouver office. This is a newly added position in line with their strategic growth plans, the incumbent will spearhead and represent their tax group in the location, leveraging the office’s cross-practice offering locally while supported by the firm’s cross-geography tax group.

Responsibilities

• Act as principal on tax-related legal matters for corporate clients, assisting with planning, restructuring and advising on tax implications arising from M&A transactions.
• Work with the wider tax-group across Canada on cross-border matters.
• Act as a local subject matter expert and resource for the Vancouver office, creating synergy with the firm’s other practice areas.
• Maintain existing client relationships and develop new clients.
• Potential to step up into leadership role and mentor Associates.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in tax law, ideally from a planning perspective.
• Excellent technical knowledge and ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal and client management skills.
• Approachable and a good team player.
• Candidates with book of business can be considered for more senior titles, including Partner.
