ABOUT THE CLIENT
Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, our client has been a leader in the real estate and construction industry for the past 50 years. They have also expanded into industries such as renewable energy, tourist attractions, and restaurants. Currently, they are looking to add a senior tax specialist to their team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of relevant experience.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Tax, the senior tax specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Prepare and review corporate (T2), partnership (T5013), and trust (T3) tax returns, along with (T1134, T1135, T106).
- Manage real estate tax filings (SVT, EHT, UHT) and bare trust reporting across multiple divisions.
- Review financial statements and develop related working papers.
- Track and summarize key tax attributes such as ACB, ARA, CDA, safe income, and NCLs for leadership insights.
- Maintain year-end tax files and working papers for major business divisions.
- Assist with tax planning projects, and related forms (T2060, T2057, T2058, T2059).
- Coordinate with external advisors on tax matters and information requests.
- Serve as the primary contact for CRA audits and government inquiries, including GST reviews.
- Identify process improvements, track tax-related metrics, and enhance digital access to information.
- Collaborate with management and divisional teams to clarify tax implications of business decisions.
- Assess and recommend entities for dissolution or restructuring.
- Ad hoc duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Pursuing or designated CPA
- 3+ years of Canadian tax experience
- Real estate experience is an asset.
- 5 days in office role.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary: $90,000 to $105,000
- 3 weeks vacation
- Extended health and dental
- Discretionary bonus
