Mental Health Care Aide

We are currently seeking a Mental Health Care Aide to join our team on the Mental Health Licensed Long-term Care team at Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Vernon, BC.

About the Job:

As the Mental Health Care Aide, you will work as a key team member of an interdisciplinary team that provides patient care within the hospital. Working under the direction of RN’s, RPNs and LPN’s, Mental Health Care Aides follow established care plans and routines to deliver the best patient care possible.

Some typical duties and responsibilities:

• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living
• Assist with patient mobility, transfers and related equipment
• Perform nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration
• Vital signs, documents on patient’s chart and responds to call bells/alarm
• Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
• Observe and report changes in patient progress, symptoms and condition
• Assists with the provision of activation and socialization services for mental health patients
• Perform clerical duties and other related duties

This is a casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. Shifts of work will be scheduled days and evenings; rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00 hours.

Qualfications
• Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant / Health Care Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker registry (please include your number)
