What you will do

Our Montreal (downtown) office is seeking undergraduate students to join the team as full-time, intern or coop hire in winter 2025 and summer 2025 as a part of our risk services practice. 

 

Our technology risk services Team

 

Join our dynamic Technology Risk Consulting team at KPMG Montreal, where we specialize in assisting clients to enhance their response and resilience to technology risks. This role is perfect for undergraduates in Business Technology Management, Computer Science, and both CPA and non-CPA Accounting. As a consultant, you will:

  • Work closely with client staff and KPMG's delivery teams to deliver impactful risk solutions.
  • Engage in varied IT risk management projects and audits, playing a key role in ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Assist in evaluating and improving IT controls, including Change Management, IT Operations Management, and Access Management.
  • Understand and address the core needs and issues of our clients, analyzing their IT environment and recommend improvements.
  • Actively contribute to the growth of our Risk Consulting Services through various initiatives, including business development and administrative tasks.
  • Participate in IT audits and enhance processes related to controls, information security, compliance, and performance.
  • Engage in the development of comprehensive risk analyses and threat scenarios

 

Our financial crimes Team (select Financial Risk Management in the screening question)

 

In order to continue to grow and realize its full potential, our Financial Crimes practice in the Montreal office is looking for a Financial Crimes Consultant to help develop its service offering and grow its Financial Crime Advisory Services team.

 

In compliance with the law and industry best practices, we work with clients to identify, manage and mitigate exposure to financial crime by acting as expert advisors in the following areas:

  • Anti-money laundering and terrorist financing
  • Economic sanctions
  • Combating tax evasion
  • Combating corruption
  • Fraud

 

What you'll be doing


You will be involved in a variety of client projects in the area of financial crime. You'll work closely with practice partners and contribute to business development.

 

Also, as a Consultant, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Act as an expert consultant on financial crime so that we can offer services in line with best practices, legal requirements and the firm's standards of excellence.
  • Support the lines of defense in charge of deploying financial crime programs.
  • Assess risks (financial crime (money laundering, tax evasion, economic sanctions), fraud (internal/external) across the organization.
  • Help our customers gain a comprehensive view of their operational and regulatory risks, enabling them to reduce their exposure.
  • Assist clients in various risk management assignments, including, but not limited to, risk appetite identification, process identification, assessment of the design and effectiveness of controls in place to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the deployment of new financial crime technologies and/or be a driving force behind proposals.
  • Provide sound advice on risk governance strategy and adapt it to customer needs.

 

Our forensic Team

 

The work involves the following activities:

  • Processing complaints received by post, e-mail and via a dedicated website.
  • This processing may involve:
    • Opening mail, scanning documents, manually entering data into a portal set up and managed by KPMG.
    • Processing claims according to predefined rules.
  • Monitoring and sorting e-mails received via the main mailbox managed by KPMG. You may also be called upon to respond to e-mails from various groups or individuals.
  • Various tasks related to claims administration, such as organizing documents and files, researching and verifying documentation, etc.
  • Claims evaluation: Using a claims evaluation platform, review and analyze claims and supporting documentation, and contribute to the validation process by applying established processes and criteria.
  • Passing on complex cases: identify complex claims and pass them on to the appropriate levels for further assessment.
  • Deliver high quality, timely work that meets engagement requirements and KPMG quality standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Have completed or are in the process of completing undergraduate university studies in a field of administration, commerce, management or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of spoken and written French and English.
  • Thoroughness, attention to detail, good judgment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English; experience in writing convincing presentations and reports.
  • Discretion and a strong sense of confidentiality; you will be required to work with sensitive personal information.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships.
  • Proven ability to exercise initiative and judgment, as well as to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to maintain a steady work pace to complete a number of tasks on a weekly basis.
  • Ability to obtain a reliability status following a security audit conducted by the Government of Canada. You must have lived in Canada for the past 5 years, without having spent more than 6 consecutive months abroad. KPMG will assist you in obtaining Reliability Status, which is valid for 10 years.
  • Proactivity and initiative: you may be asked to provide feedback on certain processes and suggest changes or improvements based on your experience.
