Job Summary:

As an experienced Project Controls Manager, you will use your experience to provide support to the field construction operations teams. You will be responsible for managing the reporting, scheduling, cost controls, cost coding and budget reporting forecasts. You will also leverage your experience to provide technical and management support to the project controls team. You are a problem solver and continuously look for innovative solutions that can be utilized on projects.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the tracking of project milestones and financial deadlines; oversees the creation of the project schedule, inputs, and updates throughout the project. Reviews with Project Director, Commercial Manager, Construction Managers and Project Team. Participate in regularly scheduled reviews
  • Facilitate the review and distribution of shop drawings by following up with the project coordinators and Design Manager; oversees the maintenance of the shop drawing and transmittal logs.
  • Facilitate the constructability reviews of drawing packages with the operations team and reviews all drawing packages for schedule and cost implications
  • Oversee the request for information (RFI) and Field Instruction (FI) processes. Ensures RFIs & FIs are distributed to affected parties and oversees the maintenance logs and binders
  • Oversee and coordinate jobsite engineering works including temporary works engineer, engineering and geotechnical site reviews
  • Participate in the review and signoff of all NCRs, OFIs, CAs and other quality documentation
  • Organize and oversee project close-out; ensure warranties and O&M manuals are collected, turnover documents are created and submitted and assist in demobilizing the site and archiving documentation
  • Participate in strategic planning meetings with project management to optimize project goals, schedule and budget
  • Review daily, weekly and monthly productivity and progress reports to provide insight into patterns that are occurring. Coordinate with the operations team on developing solutions to overcome negative patterns and how to optimize on positive outcomes
  • Manage project risk matrix and coordinate with the project team to eliminate or minimize risks
  • Assume a leadership role; provides guidance and mentorship to project team members in order to contribute to their development and career growth, with indirect management of all Project Coordinators, taking accountability for their responsibilities with respect to quantities, cost control and change management

Qualifications

  • Completed post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or engineering related discipline
  • 10+ years of related work experience or combination of relevant education and experience
  • Experience with engineering and construction based cost systems. (Productivity, performance measurement, progress tracking, etc.)
  • Experience producing construction plans and schedules using Primavera 6 (P6) and TILOS scheduling software
  • Experience using In-Eight project management software would be an asset
  • Facilitation and mentoring skills; ability to move the team forward and resolve conflict situations
  • Ability to anticipate constructability issues in complex situations and create new solutions to meet the construction plan and schedule
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including the ability to manipulate large amounts of data and perform complex functions within Excel
  • Ability to communicate to project stakeholder requests in typical situations and understand client needs and work to meet those needs by offering assistance and advice on standard practical issues
