CIVIL ENGINEER – STEEL STRUCTURE PROJECT MANAGER

THE CHALLENGE

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with deadlines, quality of work, and budget. You will monitor calls for tenders to select the most qualified service providers. In addition, you will conduct regular follow-ups with clients, employees, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication of information. You will participate in drafting specifications, research and select the necessary suppliers and materials, and conduct preliminary studies, if necessary. At the end of the project, you will ensure acceptance of the implemented systems and compare the results with forecasts.

YOUR DAILY LIFE

• Monitor projects in invitation to bids;
• Visit project sites, as needed, to understand and visualize the projects;
• Prepare and analyze structural engineerings plans and specifications to understand the work to be done and its specific features;
• Estimate the costs and time required to complete the work in accordance with the plans and specifications, according to the project schedule;
• In collaboration with the Director of Operations, prepare and review bids, ensure their compliance, and submit them within the required timeframe;
• Follow up on bids submitted to clients and potential clients;
• Conclude agreements with clients and suppliers
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on budget and on schedule, while ensuring business objectives, the company's vision, and that client needs are met.
• Actively participate in the development of operational planning and logistics;
• Negotiate prices to always obtain the best value;
• Establish the project's completion schedule respecting the budget;
• Ensure compliance with each project budgets, the quality of work, deadlines, and environmental and health and safety requirements;
• When required, manage and coordinate projects and monitor progress with other departments and subcontractors.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
• Training in civil engineering, specializing in structures, metal engineering, or a related field;
• 5 - 10 years of experience in project management;
• Proficiency with project management tools and planning software;
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations;
• Excellent communication skills to ensure effective information transfer;
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while respecting deadlines and budgets;
• Organizational skills and rigor to ensure project compliance;
• Analytical skills to estimate costs and time related to project completion;
• Ability to work collaboratively with different departments and coordinate teams.
