The Data Engineering team at Loblaw is seeking a Data Analyst with background in data analytics, cloud, and relational databases. As the Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to support large data initiatives by applying your expertise in acquiring, analyzing, and manipulating data to identify insights and data patterns. Candidate will be responsible for crafting and maintaining data requirements, transformations, and system documentation.

• Responsible for the extraction and analysis of sophisticated information from a variety of databases, as well as the transformation of extracted data from large and disconnected datasets into insights suitable for presentation to various audiences, utilizing necessary tools and languages like SQL, Python etc.

• Work collaboratively with business and analytics groups on cross-functional projects and data initiatives to solve business problems.

• Analyze existing processes to enhance features or troubleshoot data issues/concerns raised by business stakeholders.

• Develop capabilities to identify areas of opportunity and improve business processes, data architecture and reporting efficiency.

• Develop documentation, including UML diagrams, such as sequence and data flow diagrams, to support data architecture and processes.

• Advance SQL skills to support data analysis for business requirements. Minimum 2 years of experience in SQL and Python is required.

• Superb analytical, conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills to support data analysis and derive relevant interpretations.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills to liaison effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.

• Prior experience in cloud technologies and large relational database preferably in a retail domain would be an asset (GCP, Big Query, Teradata etc.).

• University Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Information Systems is preferred.
