Role Mandate:

This role will involve the development and execution of key savings initiatives which are in line with our overall optimization strategy. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives, the individual will be responsible for delivering against project milestones, leading cross functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships. We are looking for an individual with industry experience and proven ability to deliver significant and sustainable results. The individual should be very comfortable with operating in ambiguous environments, familiar with the RFP process, gathering insights from raw data, and building influential PowerPoint business cases and other presentations.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to the below:

Strategic Projects

  • End-to-end project execution focused on defining the current state, analyzing the current state for savings opportunities, and executing against the implementation milestones

  • Lead strategic project planning, milestone tracking, risk management, stakeholder management, facilitation of workshops, design and implementation of new processes and project training, change management and hand over activities

  • Analyze large data sets, identify data insights and clearly communicate them

  • Build PowerPoint decks to help influence stakeholders and support project milestones

  • Lead cross functional project teams to develop and deliver end-to-end GNFR strategies

  • Facilitate working committees

  • Engage and work alongside key business stakeholders to gain input and buy-in to the strategic initiatives and to influence and execute plans

  • Develop internal relationships with business units to ensure collaboration

Strategic Sourcing

  • Support the development and execution of category management strategies, processes and events for assigned categories/sub-categories

  • Executing category management strategies and the strategic sourcing process (e.g. RFI, RFP, etc.)

  • Support the category team in Ariba/Fieldglass process design, implementation and ongoing support

  • Conducting complex sourcing baseline analysis and assessing category benefits (e.g. savings, risk reduction, etc.) and key performance metrics

  • Analyzing supplier bids and proposals conducting advanced, multivariable cost regression analyses to prepare and assess potential sourcing scenarios

  • Assist the Contracts team with execution of various contracts across different categories.

  • Assist in negotiations with vendors on pricing, terms, etc.

  • Track savings and other KPIs of completed initiatives

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Strong project and change management skills

  • Knowledge in business process improvement techniques (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

  • Process documentation and design

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Ability to summarize data into key insights and define opportunities

  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills

  • Strong ability to present ideas in business-friendly language

  • Organizational skills and ability to multi-task

Technical Skills

  • Expert in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)

Communication Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentations skills

  • Ability to summarize complex data into key insights

Role Requirements:

  • A minimum of Bachelor Degree in business, operations, engineering or equivalent discipline

  • MBA is an asset but not a requirement of this role

  • Project Management Certification (i.e. PMP, etc.) is an asset

  • Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent process improvement certification is an asset

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience related to process optimization, procurement or management consulting

  • Experience in preparing, leading, and awarding RFX

  • Solid expertise in the development and roll-out of transformation programs

  • Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to lead and work in cross functional teams

  • Understanding of service requirements in grocery retail business

  • Ability to influence change
