The Senior Analyst, Promotions is accountable for supporting the Director, Promotions to achieve promotional investment targets, and guide promotional activity, tailoring activities to banner strategy with the goal of contributing to sales and market share growth.
Accountabilities:
Promotion Planning
- Maintaining / updating / communication of the Merchandising Calendar & Instructions as required.
- Assist in creating the weekly flyer (i.e. front page, rotation and analytics to support the decision)
- Use historical sales data and the promotional effectiveness tool, model profitability scenarios in order to identify and communicate opportunities for improved promotional sales and profitability
- Conduct promotion specific historical analysis to assist in item selection, provide recommendations on most profitable category to highlight and appropriate price points
- Monitor execution and results of all promotions and in store programs
Promotion Execution
- Proofing weekly flyer to ensure accuracy of items planned compared to JDA, and that flyer is fully compliant
- Verify the flow and accuracy of data in JDA and various category ad planners
- Address and highlight any errors that may require correction to improve integrity of data
- Confirm planning timelines have been met by category team
- Reporting - run weekly flyer sales post-mortem, highlighting opportunities for improvement in future ads
- Competitive review - monitor competitor ad activity, highlight issues and opportunities
Requirements
- Post-secondary education - Business, Finance, Economics preferred
- Excellent communication skills.
- Previous experience in retail operations and/or merchandising planning preferred.
- Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate technical skills - with MS Office (esp. Excel and PowerPoint) and experience in Loblaw systems preferred.
- Detail oriented and strong time management skills.
- Ability to contribute to promotional programs in line with corporate strategies
