Overview:

As the Safety Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and success of our transportation team. You will work closely with our Owner Operators, and operations staff, to uphold safety standards, maintain compliance with regulations, and promote a culture of safety throughout the fleet.

What you'll do:

  • Safety Oversight: Monitor and enforce safety protocols and compliance with local, provincial/state, and federal transportation regulations (e.g., FMCSA, NSC).
  • Training and Development: Organize and deliver safety training programs for Owner Operators and drivers, including orientation sessions, ongoing education, and remedial training when necessary.
  • Incident Management: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes, develop preventative measures, and prepare reports for internal and external use.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), driver qualification files, vehicle maintenance records, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support for Owner Operators: Act as a resource for Owner Operators, providing guidance on compliance, safety best practices, and risk management.
  • Audits and Inspections: Conduct internal safety audits and vehicle inspections to maintain fleet readiness and compliance.
  • Emergency Response: Coordinate and lead responses to safety-related emergencies and critical incidents.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyze driver and fleet performance metrics to identify trends, address issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations and dispatch teams to resolve safety-related concerns and improve operational efficiency.

What you'll need:

  • Exceptional leadership, organizational and communication skills
  • Secondary Education in Transportation, Supply Chain and/or Health and Safety preferred.
  • 1-2 years of related work experience (Transport/Supply Chain/Warehouse)
  • AZ/Class 1 license an asset
  • Computer literacy.
  • Must have the ability to multitask, make decisions and problem solve .
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule where required
