Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Super Market Merchandising, the Vice President, Super Market Analytics would assume responsibility and oversight for the Loyalty and Analytics function within the Division. The incumbent will partner, collaborate and influence Business Unit Category Strategy, Merchandising & Promotional Planning teams when it comes to analytics supporting day to day trading. In close collaboration with the divisional leadership team, the Vice President will drive programs, analytics and insights aligned to the divisional goals.
This is a matrixed role, working within the retail division to enable retail excellence and day to day trading effectiveness using adhoc analysis and existing tools, and with the Data Insights and Analytics team to develop, test, and scale new solutions in shelf pricing, promotions and loyalty. The leader on this team will also have to play a dual role, focused on the enabling the trading results of today, while understanding and enabling the tools and processes of tomorrow within the divisions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, manage, deliver, and own the Data and Analytics strategy from a business and value-creation perspective via thought leadership, collaboration, influence and enablement
- Drive agility with advanced insights for understanding markets, customers and competitors that help the business make better data-informed investment decisions
- Partner with the business to achieve data accuracy and process requirement goals for all customers
- Drive business transformation & insights through collection, retrieval & use of data
- Leverage our customer data to better understand the levers of customer demand in a way that produces actionable recommendations
- Proactively lead the team to develop tactics and strategies to improve our customer value proposition in response to and in advance of competitive activity, external shifts in demand, and changes in the macroeconomic environment
- Develop a loyalty strategy (in partnership with the enterprise Loyalty COE) that drives digital engagement, delivers incremental sales and profitability, and influences customer behaviour
- Partner with and engage with merchant teams to optimize the mix between loyalty and traditional promotions
- Lead and conduct reporting and analytics on loyalty performance and adopt tools and systems built by the Data Insights and Analytics team to further the division’s promotional optimization capabilities
- Leverage data and analytics to improve the efficiency and incrementality of the division’s promotions
- Foster a digital, dynamic agile and learn by doing culture by championing change and innovation through advancement of the divisional pricing strategy
- Lead the test and build shelf pricing capabilities that maximize the customer value perception while driving profitability
- Conduct regular shelf pricing reporting and ad-hoc analytics
- Desire to get teams within a company on board with leveraging standards for data governance and modeling, for the purpose of collaborating with other teams and sharing data within organizations/company.
- Establish staffing/resource plans to meet long-range business needs and responsible over overall organizational effectiveness
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Economics, business administration or equivalent discipline
- 10+ years in data and analytics and insights in a large cross functional organization
- Leader with strong business acumen to translate big data capabilities and next generation information management solutions into business outcomes that align back to divisional strategies and support real-time decision making
- Ability to collaborate with business leads, understand business strategy/processes, looks for innovative solutions to drive business solutions for internal business users and external customers
- Strong knowledge of analytics, loyalty and strategy, in addition to a strong customer focus & orientation
- 8+ years of senior leadership experience managing retail
- Possesses a hands-on analytical role experience focused on optimization across a wide variety of businesses and functions
- Experience in defining role and responsibilities, mentoring and leading a diverse team in a highly matrixed organization with ability to influence
- Demonstrates our culture, core values and a genuine concern for others
- A strong understanding of the competitive landscape with an ability to understand customer segmentation to recognize and capitalize on opportunities within analytics
- Excellent written and verbal communicator
- Strong presentation skills, narrative building for presentations to management board
