Technical Services provides global support to Newmont and its operating companies through a series of specialized technical functions. Within Technical Services, the Asset Management (AM) function will be responsible for creating and implementing effective global asset strategies, providing effective asset planning and strategic information to achieve outstanding global asset performance across Newmont's portfolio. It aims to ensure that Newmont's asset management processes and capabilities are a source of sustainable and significant competitive advantage for Newmont. It does this by focusing on business process standardization, proactive collaboration, skills and capability development, maintenance and reliability practices, relevant global productivity metrics and targeted asset lifecycle cost improvements that add value. The AM function focuses on value creation in line with our philosophy of continuous improvement and rapid replication.
The Asset Planning function is responsible for the delivery of effective maintenance plans and schedules designed to maximize the efficiency of on-site maintenance teams and improve equipment performance. The Asset Planner will be responsible for preparing short, medium and long term maintenance plans and schedules, and liaising with site work management coordinators to ensure timely arrival of parts and execution of work orders.
- Preparation of long- and short-term plans and schedules to optimize costs, improve efficiency and promote equipment reliability and availability for a mine or processing department.
- Clear communication with work management coordinators to support plan execution.

Management of work requests
- Manage notifications of new work and pending work, including checking for duplicates and ensuring that sufficient information is provided to plan the work, relying on task lists to ensure consistency of work planning.
- Obtain approvals for work notifications, checking priority levels and due dates before converting them into work orders.
Plans and schedules work orders (WO)
- Prepares short-, medium- and long-term maintenance plans (to be executed within 2 weeks or more) based on site priorities, focusing on reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
- Plans the use of resources (parts and materials, equipment, tools and labor) for the execution of maintenance plans, including the timely scheduling of material orders.
Coordinates with site work management coordinators the transition of schedule projects with time, resource and material allocations to sites. - Coordinates maintenance plans with the supply chain team to ensure timely ordering and allocation of parts and materials.
Monitor compliance with the plan and identify areas for improvement.
- Guarantee and monitor the correct use of the ERP system, in particular by ensuring that component changes are recorded appropriately.
- Verify that work orders are closed and that required fields are completed.
- Monitor key performance indicators and planning and scheduling targets, including deviations from the maintenance plan, and communicate observations to department managers.
- Assist in identifying reliability engineering needs to review equipment strategies or life cycle cost models.
- Develop and distribute reports on schedule adherence, work process metrics and backlogs to site stakeholders and information management center.
- Continuously identify and drive opportunities to improve planning activities and implement best practice updates and modifications.
Knowledge :
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards
- In-depth knowledge of the work management process
- In-depth knowledge of planning and scheduling of maintenance activities
- General knowledge of performance measurements and their interpretation
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years' experience in heavy industry or asset management.
- Experience with manual and computerized maintenance planning systems (SAP experience an asset)
Skills and Abilities :
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively in person and virtually.
- Ability to quickly evaluate information to diagnose problems and opportunities, with sound professional judgment and critical thinking.
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across Newmont, including central asset management, operations, supply chain and external partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-performing, multi-disciplinary and diverse team.
- Bilingualism French-English (an asset)
- The incumbent works for the Eleonore mining operation in the Eeyou Istchee/James Bay region of northern Quebec. He/she will work mainly on site on a pre-defined schedule.
- The schedule is to be set up but could be 8 days on, 6 days off or 14 days on, 14 days off. Flexible schedules are required to accommodate the overall nature of the work.
