The Technical Services Superintendent leads a multi-disciplinary team of mine technical and geological staff.
The following positions report to the Technical Services Superintendent:
• Mine Engineering Supervisor /Senior Mine Engineer - Short-Term Planning
• Mine Engineering Supervisor /Senior Mine Engineer - Mid-Term Planning
• Senior Mine Geologist
Accountable for the delivery of realistic and reliable mining plans by managing all production geology and mine engineering activities at the mine site, for safe work methods and procedures for all members of the department, for the pursuit of continuous improvement opportunities of mine operations and for the management of site specific technical services workforce and budget
- Design, implementation and review of applicable systems, standards and procedures to manage all Mine Engineering and Production Geology functions
- Reporting of performance statistics, statutory requirements and Full Potential (continuous improvement) initiatives
Short-Term Planning
- Scheduling and tracking of all relevant mining activities for 0-3 months
- Planning and design of all relevant mining activities
- Operations progress and Spatial Compliance tracking
- Surveying, Ventilation, Field inspections and Stope reconciliation
Mid-Term Planning
- Planning and design of conceptual mining plans and associated activities
- Scheduling and tracking of all conceptual mining activities for 3-24 months
- Production forecasting
- Contributing to annual mine budget process
- Planning, construction and monitoring of mine infrastructure (water, backfill, ventilation, compressed air, power distribution etc)
Long-Term Planning
- Collaboration with Corporate Long-term Planning group related to preparation of annual Mine Reserves and Life-Of-Mine planning of mine operations
- Ensure mining plan includes all applicable infrastructure to comply with local regulations and deliver on business objectives.
- Support annual strategic business planning process and capital works planning
- Prepare mine site budget inclusive of costing using Xeras Software
Production Geology
- Planning, design and coordination of DDH activities to support mine planning
- Short-term block model estimation
- Underground mapping, sampling and Grade control of mine production areas
- Surface grade control
- Monthly and annual Ore production reconciliation
- Sample assays and database management
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or equivalent discipline related experience for the position.
- 10-15 years experience in Mine Engineering, Mine Operations and/or Mine Geology, preferably in underground mining environment
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory role with exposure to senior supervisory roles and duties.
- Able to read engineering plans with a good understanding of ground control, mine planning and geology
- Good knowledge of narrow vein and long-hole mining techniques.
- Good working knowledge of underground mining procedures and maintenance requirements.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good financial knowledge and skills.
- High learning agility.
Porcupine Gold Mines operation is comprised of 2 operations in the Timmins, ON area as well as 1 underground operation in Chapleau, ON.
Candidates must currently live in the area or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is available.
