Musselwhite site
Reporting directly to the Mine Engineering Superintendent, the Senior Engineer - Project and Infrastructure will responsible for developing detailed project scope, schedule and budget in association with mine capital and operating projects, management of project documentation, contract business and performance including conformance to engineering design at Newmont Musselwhite Mine. The additional key responsibility includes the supervision of the ventilation and surveying teams within the Technical Services Department.
- Become familiar with all aspects of the Fatality Risk Management and perform inspections, job and task observations to ensure compliance to Fatality Risk Management safety standards.
- Be proactive with respect to safety. Report and correct hazards as they are identified.
- Accountable for own health and safety performance as well as wellbeing of those in the workplace.
- Follow operating procedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act; company policies and comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Actively participate in team safe meetings/discussions providing input based on observations and experience so that designs include mitigation measures/controls for all foreseeable hazards.
- Supervise, mentor, and arrange for the training of members of the surveying and ventilation teams
- Responsible for infrastructure engineering working closely with operational and projects coordinators
- Direct contact with engineering firms to support delivery of all engineering and design requirements for capital and operating projects
- Liaise with construction/projects managers and supervisors to ensure success of all projects
- Review, define and modify engineering proposals and scopes of work
- Assist in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping strategies for projects, development and preparation of technical specifications
- Monitor and report on project health related to safety, scope, schedule, and budget
- Set dates for engineering deliverables needed for the individual projects
- Meet environmental requirements and demands, and assist in work related to obtaining permits
- Follow PMP Guidelines
- Other supporting tasks as outlined by the Mine Engineering Superintendent
- Minimum B.Sc. degree in Mining Engineering with a P. Eng designation within the province of Ontario
- Accreditation in project management preferred (PMP)
- 7 - 10 years of experience in underground mine engineering roles, with at least 3 years in mine projects and construction related roles
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills while leading a diverse team.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Experience with supervising and coordinating engineering activities
- Exceptional proficiency with mine planning computer software (Deswik.IS and Microsoft Office Suite)
- Willingness and capability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced, safe production oriented setting.
The work schedule for this position is 14 on, 14 days off, working 12-hour days.
