Reporting to the Mining Operations Supervisor, an Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of various types of Excavators, Dozers, Graders, and Loaders, primarily in a Open Pit setting.
The Red Chris Mine Operations team is recruiting for the position of Equipment Operator with a competitive hourly rate of $45.18, with additional benefits, including a Travel Allowance to get to and from the work site, Benefits package, RRSP program and more. We are seeking an individual for a Fly-In, Fly-Out opportunity working on a two-weeks-in, two-weeks-out rotation.
Safety:
- Demonstrate absolute commitment in providing a safe working environment by:
- Promote and maintain a culture of ‘safe production’ by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures, and accountabilities.
- Ensure all incidents, near miss and hazards are reported.
- Display behaviour consistent with Newcrest’s Code of Conduct
- Application of FLHA’s in the field
Technical Accountabilities:
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner, complete FLHAs on a regular basis.
- Operate various pieces of heavy equipment as required.
- Conduct inspections of the work area prior to work beginning
- Use the digital fleet management system.
- Perform pre-trip and post -trip safety inspections and complete daily logbook reports for equipment.
- Report all unsafe conditions.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices.
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an open pit mine
- Minimum of 3 years experience operating Heavy equipment in an industrial setting.
- Must have a minimum of 500 hours experience on three of the following pieces of equipment, with four being preferred:
- D10 Dozer
- 16M or 24M Grader
- PC2000 or 870 Excavator
- 988 or 994 Loaders
- Class 5 driver’s licence is required
- Experience loading Haul Trucks with a 994 Loader, or equivalent, preferred
- The use of a computerized grade control/project software would be an asset.
