Our client, a well-established company in the wholesale and distribution sector, is seeking a Controller to lead their corporate accounting operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, treasury management, regulatory compliance, and the development of internal control policies and procedures. • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including the supervision of team members responsible for billing & collections, accounts payable, and payroll.
  
• Prepare and publish monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  
• Investigate, dispute, and resolve short payments and remittance deductions in collaboration with internal teams.
  
• Manage daily cash flow and prepare monthly cash-flow projections based on financial forecasts.
  
• Direct and execute month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  
• Ensure compliance with government, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  
• Lead year-end close processes and manage external audit preparation.
  
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies.
  
• Work closely with IT teams to enhance automation and efficiency in accounting processes, particularly in the integration and optimization of the Epicor ERP system.
  
• Establish and align best practices to enhance accounting operations and financial transparency.
  

• Proven experience in an assistant controller or senior accounting role, overseeing financial operations.
  
• 5-7 years of combined accounting and finance experience.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
  
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.
  
• Strong experience with general ledger functions, month-end, and year-end close processes.
  
• Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems (Epicor experience a plus), and advanced Excel skills.
  
• Experience in ERP system implementation and process automation is an asset.
  
• Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  
• A strategic mindset with the ability to leverage technology for operational efficiency and process improvement.
