EDUCATION
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (GED).
- Completion of valid Operator-in-Training Water certificates accredited through the Ontario Water Wastewater Certification Office (OWWCO) or are willing to obtain certificates via written examination is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience driving large trucks, tractors, pulling a trailer or other heavy equipment.
- Grounds and building maintenance experience.
- Experience with hand/power tools and lawn equipment.
- Janitorial experience would be an asset.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Book 7 and Hours of Service Regulations, W.H.M.I.S. legislation and other relevant construction related legislation.
SKILLS
- Ability to operate vehicles, tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Must be able to understand and follow detailed procedures, instructions and take direction.
- Ability to accurately complete various logs, documents, inspection forms and other administrative information.
- Must have good interpersonal skills to interact with leaders, co-workers and the public.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted class license for the class of the vehicle operated (Class G). Please note: Class AZ/DZ driver’s licence is preferred.
- Must maintain ability to travel in a timely manner to other offices, work locations or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons.
- In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
- Will be required to work weekdays, weekends, late evenings and early morning shifts. Shifts will vary in length of time (3 to 8 hours).
- Must be available to work up to 40 hours/week.
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
