What is the opportunity?

As an HRBP, you will provide strong thought partnership to key executives in defining and implementing people strategies aligned to business plans, building effective teams, developing talent and driving bold HR practices. You are passionate about the employee experience journey and will provide direct guidance to senior-level executives and their respective leadership teams on all aspects of workforce management and change including talent management, leadership development, employee engagement and development.

What will you do?

The following are key outcomes that you will drive in the Human Resources Business Partner role. Although listed separately, they often overlap and one influences the other. Your role will require you to constantly prioritize, re-prioritize, and integrate these outcomes to enable business results and growth:

  • Talent Sourcing, Performance and Development. You will work with the leadership teams to acquire and assess talent. You will work with senior leaders to assess and strengthen leadership depth and employee capability through integrated leadership and talent programs, development opportunities and learning interventions. This also includes the performance and development of the Leaders themselves, where you will provide feedback, coaching, and formal development recommendations.
  • Advice and Consultation. The people-related questions and issues a Leader faces every day are as unique as the individuals that make up RBC. You will partner effectively with Leaders and with other sources of expertise in HR to provide your best advice and counsel on how to resolve issues and concerns in a way that meets the needs of the individual and the organization. You will also be conversant with HR Data and its analysis so that you can inform decision-making and recommend actions around important topics such as Diversity and Inclusion, Engagement and all other outcomes listed here.
  • Organization Development and Change. Recognizing that the context within which people work (e.g. the organization structure, reward/compensation systems, leadership, their teams, and culture) all have an effect on their productivity and enjoyment, you will help Leaders to utilize these levers to achieve desired results and engagement while helping employees adopt any associated changes.
  • HR Strategy Execution. In your role, it will be key that you understand HRs People and Culture strategy and are working with your the Leaders to determine people and organization implications for their teams. You will be an active force in imagining how the strategies apply and in determining local initiatives to ensure they are executed within the teams you support.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-haves:

  • 5+ years experience in Human Resources, preferably with some exposure to HRBP lifecycle working directly with senior leaders
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Human Resources
  • Own the talent strategy for the business/function and provide strategic insights and solutions to leaders on talent priorities and needs.
  • Ability to prioritize high volume, competing priorities for multiple stakeholders and in turn deliver balance of advice and counsel with strong execution capabilities
  • Ability to understand, assess and respond to complex situations and provide strategic and innovative solutions to drive results
  • Strong relationship management capabilities including the ability to impact, influence, and constructively challenge senior leaders
  • Solid aptitude for change management capabilities and leadership effectiveness
  • Strong business acumen, growth mindset, and consultative orientation
  • Partner with Centres of Expertise to proactively provide insights on the design and development of HR programs
  • Strong communications, analytics and digital skills, familiar with HR technology and Microsoft Office Suite).

  • CHRP, CHRL or in progress is an asset
