WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is the asset management division of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). RBC GAM is a provider of global investment management services and solutions to individual, high-net-worth and institutional investors through mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, pooled funds, separate accounts and specialty investment strategies.

The main purpose of this role is to assist in the RBC GAM Institutional, Investment Management (IM), and Operations business unit planning, forecasting, analysis, reporting and support RBC GAM Inc. legal and regulatory requirements.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Ensure that the RBC GAM Institutional, IM, and Operations results are accurately reflected in the financial systems and on a timely basis.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, bank reconciliations, supporting schedules, etc as required.
  • Contribute to the monitoring, analysis and reporting of the financial results, including ensuring the integrity, accuracy and completeness of the results in PeopleSoft and EPM.
  • Participate in fulfilling both the RBC GAM Inc. and PHN IF Inc. external and internal audit requirements by providing supporting schedules and responding to auditor enquires as required.
  • Responsible for preparing monthly and quarterly head office schedules as required (i.e. PEGA G/L attestations, AUM, net sales, etc).
  • Quarterly financial summary for the Canadian Institutional business as well as calculation of RSP compensation program.
  • Play an active role in the RBC GAM annual plan, 5 year outlook and financial forecasts and prepare supporting schedules as required.
  • Prepare NIE variance analysis, FTE analysis, vendor analysis and other schedules as required.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Accounting designation with some years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Extensive experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products, with an emphasis on Excel, including the use of pivot tables.
  • Effective organizational and planning skills plans, organizes, and schedules time in an efficient and productive manner. Focuses on key priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative, function independently, and work as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret and make recommendations. Well-developed and proven written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with EPM, Cognos and PeopleSoft accounting/reporting systems.
  • Financial services industry experience (asset or wealth management).
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses.
