What is the opportunity?
The GCS Strategic Services team has built out an Identity Data Intelligence pillar with the mandate to consolidate, cleanse, govern, and enrich our IAM data to make strong data driven strategic decisions, and identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation, in partnership with Operations teams. As the Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, the role mandate is to build intelligent, data driven solutions to support key partners across the IAM domain area, including Operations, Governance, Process development, and Metrics reporting, as well as other key stakeholders across GCS. You will perform tasks such as designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, data integration processes, and data infrastructure, as well providing guidance and expertise on solution and process optimization to drive more efficient processes and reduce risk across the domain.

What will you do?

  • Partner with stakeholders across the GCS Strategic Services team to design, build, and optimize data pipelines using technical programming languages (eg. SQL, Python)
  • Handle multiple data projects in parallel by working closely with stakeholders to capture data requirements, develop data pipeline as per business requirements, and provide feedback and expertise to ensure optimal outcome and delivery to meet the objective.
  • Contribute to Tableau dashboard development and data visualization, as well as identify and fix performance issues in Tableau dashboards.
  • Create technical documentation and perform unit testing, develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases, and resolve identified defects to ensure highest data quality and accuracy.
  • Perform data analysis to identify and uncover new and innovative insights from existing or potential data sources to identify opportunities to strengthen risk reporting
  • Maintain SharePoint Forms to support data collection and management. Work with JSON format and REST API integration for effective data handling.
  • Set up and manage automation processes using Windows virtual machines (VM) with Python and API integration.
  • Provide ongoing support for production environments, addressing issues and ensuring smooth operation. Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance and technical expertise.


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of overall industry experience specifically in data engineering
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering principles, data integration, and data warehousing concepts
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining data pipelines using Dataiku or equivalent work experience
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes and REST API integrations with JSON-based data formats
  • Proficient in Python (i.e. Pandas, Numpy, etc) amongst other data-analysis related tools and libraries
  • Strong SQL skills, with experience in performance tuning and optimization of complex queries in SQL Server. Experience in maintaining SharePoint forms (HTML, JavaScript, jQuery)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and work collaboratively with diverse and cross-functional teams


Nice-to-have

  • Python or Tableau certification or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with virtual machines (VM) deployment and config management (PowerShell)
  • Proficiency with version control using GitHub.
  • Managing all work in Jira, including but not limited to story creation, defect resolution, etc.
  • Proficiency in manual testing techniques and familiarity with automated testing tools and frameworks (qTest)

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to rapidly identify and resolve issues
  • Strong understanding of IAM principles and data governance
