RBC Wealth Management technology group is looking for an experienced Senior Solution Architect. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing the technical architecture of an online banking platform, ensuring it meets business requirements, is scalable, secure, and user-friendly, by leveraging various technologies to create a seamless digital banking experience for customers. In addition, you will demonstrate a high degree of collaboration with business, strategy, operations, architecture, and delivery teams in the areas of emerging technologies including Cloud computing, digital experiences, events, microservices, APIs and batch process. The Architect will develop Architecture Blue Print, Application Roadmaps and provide technical leadership to key strategic and transformative programs for Wealth Management business. This person will be responsible for integrating RBC architecture guidance, Consistency, Integrity, Safety and Soundness, Technology Currency and reuse approaches into the WMC strategic platform architectures, programs and projects.

  • Designing (SA) in large or complex programs, including system and application designs, software and technical architecture, in accordance with strategies and objectives.
  • Providing expertise for the (SA) team and other IT staff on a variety of issues in software designs, system architecture and solution-oriented technologies.
  • Communicating with clients and analyses business requirements and processes; making recommendations, and leading in shaping future plans in (SA).
  • Overseeing (SA) project outcomes, including hardware and software design; ensuring that each project phase meets overall requirements.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Develop and Socialize end-to-end solution for complex regulatory and business initiatives based on strong collaboration with business and technology leaders with alignment to enterprise architecture, technology standards and industry best practices.

  • Influence in decision making and facilitate teams with multiple stakeholders at all levels in the organization.

  • Work with technical teams and business partners/specialists across RBC application groups and 3rd parties to understand the current state and identify constraints in defining the target/future state architecture for applications & related interfaces.

  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with Enterprise architecture areas, Application Development, RBC business groups, Global Technology Infrastructure and others (Data Architecture, Security Architecture).

  • Collaborate with business and technology partners to translate features and requirements to technical design and act as the lead technical authority on the program or project.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and aggressive deliverables and take a leadership role in moving initiatives forward and removing obstacles.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical area of study (computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.) or other BS/BA degree with a concentration in computer science or information systems or equivalent.

  • Total IT experience of at least 15 years out of which 7+ years doing Solutions Architectures on large projects in wealth management domain with proven experience at leading architecture of a large program

  • Advanced knowledge on client facing Web application architecture patterns, security patterns including OAuth, SSO, SAML, etc.

  • Advanced knowledge on different architecture/design techniques (e.g. SOA/Microservices, REST/SOAP, Cloud Native applications, Event-Driven Architecture, Orchestration/Choreography, Data Pipelines), modern and legacy technology platforms (e.g. Kafka, MQ, Openshift, RBDMS, GraphQL, NoSQL, Snowflake, etc.)

  • Solid experience in designing resilient enterprise applications using On Premises and Cloud computing platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to communicate and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with an ability to manage large cross-functional technical teams and ability to define, influence and impact the technical direction.

NICE-TO-HAVE:

  • Strong knowledge of financial applications as well as host-based systems

  • Experience in modernization of client facing applications

  • Experience with designing and implementing Azure/AWS/GCP cloud-based architectural solutions and cloud data platform technologies
