The Centre communautaire juridique de Montréal (Legal Aid) is looking for a Legal Secretary for a replacement position at the Montreal Legal Aid Office, located at 600 Fullum Street in Montreal.

For over 50 years, we have been providing legal aid to residents of Montreal and Laval. We coordinate the activities of twelve offices and employ around 150 lawyers and 172 staff members. Every day, our mission is to inform and support citizens in resolving their legal issues.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare legal documents and procedures in collaboration with lawyers

  • Draft and handle correspondence

  • Inform clients about relevant aspects of their cases

  • Receive, screen, and route phone calls

  • Manage and update the lawyers' schedules

  • Enter and transcribe data concerning legal aid applications

  • Open, file, and archive client files

  • Maintain the trust account

  • Administer oaths to clients, witnesses, and other individuals

  • Fill in for the receptionist when needed

Your Qualifications:

  • One year of relevant experience in legal secretarial work or specialized training in legal secretarial services

  • Excellent command of French (both oral and written)

  • Functional English (ability to communicate with English-speaking or allophone clients)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Outlook, Teams)

  • Excellent organizational skills and effective prioritization

  • Ability to handle stress and work in a high-volume environment

  • Strong customer service orientation

Working Conditions:

  • Stable schedule of 35 hours per week

  • Annual salary between $43,598 and $53,627
