POSITION: Okanagan Language Teacher (K-12)
APPOINTMENT: 0.8 FTE Temporary
START DATE: September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025
Qualifications Required:
First Nations Language Teaching Certificate in Okanagan Language (as recognized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch);
recent successful experience teaching Okanagan language;
fluent in speaking and writing in Okanagan and English;
ability to select and adapt curriculum, programs and instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students;
ability to model, teach and foster social, emotional and cultural awareness;
knowledge of current 21st century pedagogy and assessment practices;
demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to the professional community at the school and district level;
effective communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills;
ability to integrate technologies and digital citizenship into educational programs; and
must have the following: First Nations Language Teaching Certificate in Okanagan language and current eligibility for Teacher Qualification Service card.
