Implementation (Solutions) Consultant - Payments API

Location: Hybrid (2 days in Downtown Toronto office)

Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension


OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Implementation (Solutions) Consultant to join our client onboarding team for Payments APIs. This role focuses on engaging with commercial and business banking clients, facilitating onboarding processes, and delivering technical solutions tailored to client needs. You will lead projects involving manual processes, API integrations, and collaboration with internal stakeholders, ensuring the successful implementation and support of Payment APIs. The ideal candidate has a strong background in solutions delivery, client engagement, and technical consulting within the financial services or payments domain.
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Strong project management skills, including leading client engagements and managing onboarding timelines.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills to interface with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • 5 + years of experience in a client-facing technical consulting or delivery/implementation role.
  • Hands-on experience with client API/ file base solutions onboarding and integration, particularly complex Payments solutions
  • Solid understanding of ISO specifications, and client solution delivery
  • Familiarity with the following payments systems: ACH, international wires (SWIFT), domestic wires (CA/LYNX, US Fedwire), EFT/CA Interac e-transfers
  • Knowledge of financial services products and payment processing workflows

Key ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement & Project Delivery
  • Facilitate kick-off meetings with clients, including stakeholder introductions, scope definition, and documentation distribution (e.g., Product/Developer Guides, ISO specifications, Swaggers).
  • Define and document high-level timelines, including onboarding processes, client development, UAT, and go-live planning.
  • Conduct ongoing project meetings, create agendas, distribute minutes, and track follow-ups.
  • Lead specialized client sessions on certificates, encryption, and ISO specifications, addressing technical challenges and ensuring alignment.
Technical Onboarding
  • Oversee onboarding for Lower and Production Environments, including:
  • Certificate provisioning and management.
  • Distribution of Client ID, API Keys, and Endpoints.
  • Encryption requirements and setup.
  • Provide orientation to API specifications and technical documentation, including token/OAuth, encryption, and payment APIs.
Testing & Validation
  • Collaborate with SMEs to develop and distribute UAT test cases, ensuring alignment with client-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate Production Validation activities, including test schedules and expected outcomes, and provide production test data as needed.
Knowledge Transfer
  • Serve as a liaison between Product and Technology SMEs, transferring knowledge on onboarding processes, API calls, and ISO/JSON specifications.
  • Educate clients on API payloads and response handling (e.g., Pain.001, Pain.002, Camt.005).
Go-Live & Support
  • Develop and execute go-live plans in collaboration with business, product, and technology SMEs.
  • Address production support issues, including certificate renewals, API connectivity, payment processing, and reporting/SFTP setup.
