Coordinator, Facilities Full-time Permanent Position Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm Who We Are Located on 10 beautiful acres in the heart of Olde Oakville, St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School (SMLS) is a premier independent school for girls from JK through to Grade 12. An Opportunity to Join SMLS Role Overview To support our vision of empowered young women challenging and transforming the world, we are currently seeking a Coordinator, Facilities. Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, the Coordinator, Facilities is responsible for the overall physical upkeep and daily maintenance of the school facility and grounds; acting as a primary contact at the school during work hours. This includes general repairs, responding to work orders, event set up, and more. The Facilities Coordinator communicates with students, faculty, and staff members in responding to school needs and is a key member of the facilities team. Position Details Department: Facilities Reports to: Manager, Facilities Education: College Diploma or acceptable equivalent experience and/or education Experience: 2+ years facility maintenance experience Experience in a school (an asset) Basic use of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office products, and Macs Working Conditions: School and office environment Walking, crouching, standing, climbing, sitting Lifting up to 50lbs Utilizing tools, equipment, and machinery Working at heights Working both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures Key Responsibilities Assist with the visual inspection of the school facility on a regular basis. Document and correct all identified safety hazards and communicate any concerns to the Manager, Facilities. Ensure grounds and walkways are maintained through all seasons; clearing snow, salting pathways, and cutting grass when necessary. Perform routine maintenance to ensure the physical condition of the school including but not limited to: painting, woodwork, repairs to windows, doors, floors, plaster, drywall, electrical, plumbing, etc. Complete work orders generated by employees for adjustments or changes to classrooms or workspaces, for repairs, installations or alterations as assigned. Assist with the setup and/or take down of facilities for meetings, classrooms, assemblies, and special events, including moving furniture etc. Work with third-party contractors that are on site; signing them in, communicating school needs, providing them with necessary access, and supporting them on the job as needed. Respond to any custodial emergencies that arise. Act as primary school facilities contact for after-hours school event staff and for after-hours rental clients. Address urgent needs of school rental clients and escalate any concerns to the Manager, Facilities as required. Monitoring inventory and advising when supplies need to be replenished. Ensuring compliance with all required laws and regulations that pertain to the operating of facilities in a safe and effective manner. Operating tractors, lawn mowers, and other equipment and tools as needed. Prioritizing health and safety at all times. Completing special projects and other duties as assigned. Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience Experience doing general repairs, responding to work orders, following daily maintenance routines. Basic carpentry skills including painting experience and general mechanical skills. Basic computer skills. Operating machinery including tractors, lawn mowers, chain saws, etc. Experience utilizing various tools including table saw, sanders, nail guns, etc. Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act including workplace inspections (asset).
