Job Description

We are looking for a Test / QA Specialist (Lead) for Payments applications who is passionate about improving the quality of large-scale, mission-critical platforms in a fast-paced agile environment. We, at TDS, strongly believe in embedding quality practices and tools as a behavior instead of a one-off task. We are committed to partner with the business and technology partners to build high-quality next-generation software. As a Test / QA Specialist, you will be working with senior management and decision makers to assess and develop on opportunities to improve quality of the platform to deliver tangible quality benefits to our customers while managing a team of Quality Engineers across regions.

Accountabilities:
  • Champion the cause of Software Quality Engineering and Testing across Payments domain in TDS Technology and corresponding business, operations, and support teams.

  • Communicate the QE Strategy and secure buy-in from the Technology leadership team. Identify and remove blockers or escalate as needed.

  • Collaborate with TD Platforms & Technology to adhere to standards on process, tooling, and methodology for Quality Engineering.

  • Execute on QE strategy as it relates to introducing tools, methodologies and processes, and providing updates to the senior leadership team, technology & business owners.

  • Collaborate with teams in technology like Platform Delivery, Automation Champs & Hub and Cloud enablement etc. to align and achieve collective objectives.

  • Lead a geographically diverse team of Quality Engineers.

  • Retain and hire diverse talent across Canada, Singapore, and India to support the QE strategy.

  • Grow team expertise to align with business/enterprise demand and direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered.

  • Lead a team of highly skilled professionals in an area of expertise, providing quality assurance on application of methods and practices owned within Platforms.

  • Manage a team of Quality Engineers, and is responsible for coaching on knowledge, skills and performance, building and evolving the practice's capabilities, and advising practitioners on their work to ensure solutions are sound.

  • Drive innovation culture.

  • Foster an environment/culture that encourages productivity, innovation, process improvement, teamwork and a high level of professionalism.

  • Build, maintain and evolve the culture and community of Quality Engineers. Lead the development of communities of interest within and across practices.

  • Adopt new technology like Cloud adoption, Machine Learning, AI-based tools, RPA to continually enhance the capabilities offered by the QE team.

Who you are?

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Must Have:

  • Overall 7-10 years of experience in the field of payments and banking applications QE and testing on large complex projects/programs as a lead or manager.

  • Good knowledge of Quality Engineering methodologies and practices. Experience in articulating and executing of QE strategy.

  • Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.

  • Experience in managing people and leading teams from diverse backgrounds (skills, nationality, work location, personalities etc.)

  • Hands-on Java development experience working with GitHub code repository

  • Experience in working with different tech stacks like Mainframe, Mobile, Web, API etc.

  • Experience in:

    • UI test automation tools (Selenium WebDriver, Mainframe automation (HACL) or similar)

    • API automation testing (using RestAssured, JUnit, Postman or similar)

    • Test Artifact Management tools (Jira, Confluence)

    • Dashboarding and Visualization (Kibana, Grafana, Tableau etc.)

  • Good experience with SDLC practices of Agile, Behavioral and Test-Driven Development (Lean, Scrum, XP or similar) and their corresponding tooling.

  • Experience in continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Testing (CT) to streamline QE processes (Git, Maven, Jenkins, or similar).

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage complex application / solution issues as needed, escalating to leadership or other stakeholders when necessary

  • Collaborative team player and ability to play a leadership role in the team

  • Future focused - foresees issues and gaps and identifies industry trends

  • Experience with Cloud, AI, and ML technologies.

Good to Have:

  • Solid knowledge on Payments Domain like SWIFT standards, MT and MX message formats and Fedwire format.

  • In-depth knowledge on the payment life cycle including the payment sanctions and gateway processes.
