Description
TEMPO School in Edmonton is seeking an approximate FTE 0.9 probationary part-time Junior and Senior High Biology/Chemistry teacher, commencing August 27, 2024.
TEMPO School is an independent, provincially accredited, K-12 day school with a student population of 500 students. The school has a traditional, academic focus with small class sizes, uniforms, and high standards of teaching.
All interested applicants must:
- Be in possession of, or eligible for, a valid Alberta teaching certificate
- Be comfortable teaching in a traditional, academic environment
- Have an excellent command of oral and written English
- Have a strong knowledge of the Alberta curriculum for Science 10, Biology 20, Chemistry 20
- Be capable of teaching courses with provincial achievement tests and diploma exams
- Have strong classroom management skills
- Be comfortable writing curriculum materials as required
- Be willing to work as a team with other teachers
- Be able to motivate students to reach their full potential
A graduate degree in biology or a related discipline and experience teaching Advanced Placement would be assets. Teaching an AP Chemistry component in the afternoon after 2:20pm would be an asset. There is opportunity for this position to increase to 1.00 FTE (approx.) with this additional assignment after the regular Blocks 1-5.
