Requested skills

Candidates must have a vocational certificate and a valid mechanic’s card issued by a recognized certifying authority.  A few years of relevant experience as a mechanic as well as a Class 1 driver’s licence are also required.

 

Sound knowledge of:

 

  • spoken French and English, and written French;
  • the techniques, practices and tools of the trade;
  • how motorized equipment is constructed and how it functions;
  • the proper functioning of dashboard instruments and various accessory mechanisms;
  • all types of metals and alloys, and their properties;
  • how to operate the motor and power equipment being used, and what its capacity and limitations are.

 

Ability to:

 

  • diagnose the causes of malfunction;
  • use the right tools for the job;
  • read diagrams;
  • consult parts catalogues, understand maintenance manuals and, when needed, write up requests for supplies or equipment;
  • operate the motor and power equipment being used.
