JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Planning and Performance Improvement, the incumbent applies their specialized knowledge in the analysis and interpretation of varied health data to supply information that management, physicians and professionals can use to support clinical and administrative decision-making. The incumbent is responsible for extracting, compiling, analyzing, creating reports on, and validating clinical data originating from various sources. The incumbent communicates quantitative and qualitative analytical data to document conclusions, trends and the monitoring of data used in decision-making. The analyst ensures the integrity, confidentiality and security of the organization’s information by strictly respecting confidentiality and protecting personal health information in accordance with provincial and federal privacy legislation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Active professional member of the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
- Degree in health information management;
- A combination of training and experience deemed equivalent may be considered;
- Minimum of five years of experience in the health information management field;
- In-depth knowledge of the system used to code clinical records and to program reports;
- Advanced Excel skills and demonstrated expertise working with computerized systems and software packages (Access, Meditech, Microsoft Suite, etc.);
- Skills using common computer tools in health records (3M – coding and reporting, and Meditech);
- Excellent statistical and analytical skills with attention to detail and precision;
- Ability to manage numerous projects and tasks simultaneously; understanding of the organization’s needs and priorities;
- Analytical and writing skills and ability to see the “big picture”;
- Demonstrated knowledge using various data sources related to clinical resource utilization;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the CIHI grouping methodologies (GMS and CACS);
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
- Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organization values;
- Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Vitality Health Network.
