What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Director, Project Development, this role will support work within the Nuclear New Build portfolio of work including Small Modular Reactor Power Plants, Gigawatt-scale Large Reactor Power Plants, the Deep Geologic Repository, and other nuclear new-build projects on the horizon. The opportunity is to develop career-influencing skills and gain high-demand experience in new, low-carbon power generation technologies in Canada and internationally.

The successful candidate will be interfacing with priority clients for Aecon while ensuring that objectives are completed within the required timeframe and budget. The successful candidate for a project management role will have an understanding of project management methodologies and possess or be willing to develop a knowledge of nuclear industry regulations and standards.


What You'll Do Here:

  • Develop and execute project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and communication plans.
  • Support strategic direction, KPIs and planning objectives of the Nuclear New Build program.
  • Lead and participate in project teams, providing guidance and support to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks.
  • Communicate project status and issues to stakeholders, including project team members, clients, and senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear industry regulations, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Manage project contracts, ensuring that all contractual requirements are met, including accuracy of invoicing, compliance with contract terms and conditions, and adapting to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Manage project documentation, ensuring that all project-related documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct project reviews and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Implement a customer feedback process to ensure clear understanding of the relationship, areas to foster and sustain, and focus areas for change and improvement.
  • Review, support, and maintain a lessons-learned database, sharing information across Aecons Nuclear Projects and Divisions.


What You Bring To The Team:

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or another relevant field with a focus on nuclear construction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience within the nuclear industry.
  • Knowledge of nuclear industry regulations and standards, such as IAEA, CNSC, NRC, DOE, CSA Standards, and ASME codes.
  • Experience with project management methodologies, such as PMBOK or PRINCE2.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire project teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ownership of assigned functions and tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to ensure project deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Experience working in joint venture settings during both preconstruction and construction phases.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex nuclear projects, showcasing strong project delivery capabilities.
  • Open to relocate within Canada and internationally per project requirements.
  • Intermittent travel within Canada and internationally
