These are exciting times for HR at Air Canada, with many major projects underway that will transform the company landscape. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the creation of the Air Canada of tomorrow. To support these innovations, we are looking to fill a Specialist, HR Data Operations position on the HR Data team.

As Specialist, HR Data Operations, you are expected to provide real world expertise in maintaining HR systems and implementing solutions to address HR business challenges. This role requires collaboration with a diverse internal workforce to create the future business application support model for our world class airline brand. This individual must be user journey centric and have an in-depth knowledge for supporting diverse client groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning and execution of large-scale HRIS projects, ensuring they meet organizational objectives and deadlines.
  • Handle project requests through the initial intake and evaluating business needs, researching, consulting with various stakeholders, and coordinating with legal teams to ensure company compliance. Conduct thorough data analysis to make informed decisions and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Develop project requirements, structure employee processes, and coordinate customizations with IT.
  • Oversee planning, coordination, and tracking of projects against proposed schedule and deliverables; provide end to end project governance,
  • Ensure comprehensive oversight of each project.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between HR, IT and/or other stakeholders facilitating effective communication and collaboration for the projects.
  • Prepare and present detailed executive project summaries and status reports to leadership, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and next steps.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.
  • Provide guidance to members of the team, working collaboratively, ensuring high-quality and impactful contributions.
  • Ensure all projects comply with data privacy and security policies throughout their lifecycle.
  • Monitor progress of projects and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion.
  • Demonstrate expertise in applying project management best practices & industry best practices throughout the project life cycle
  • Oversee and manage the transition of projects through various testing phases and the transition to production environments.
  • Provide user support during transition to operations and ensures appropriate documentation to support deployment. Continuously improve processes and enhance operational efficiencies by incorporating best practices and lessons learned from previous experiences
  • Collaborate with HR Data and Functional Architecture team on system, product or project solutions

Qualifications

  • A relevant University degree/technical certification, and/or relevant experience commensurate to the role
  • 8-10 years of HRIS experience preferably in a large organization
  • Must have strong customer and operational focus and ability to build positive relationships with internal clients and 3rd party providers
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Oracle PeopleSoft HRIS application and knowledge of multiple functionalities/modules
  • Takes responsibility for the results and actively participates in the future direction of the organization
  • Capability to apply attention to detail, and ability to effectively manage time and competing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in rapidly changing environments or uncertain conditions
