Investment Counsellor - Manulife Private Wealth (Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto)

The Investment Counsellor plays a critical role in delivering institutional-quality investment management, and wealth planning solutions to high-net-worth individuals and their families.

This role requires the ability to cultivate and manage long-term client relationships, tailor investment strategies to unique needs, and collaborate with internal and external partners to drive business growth.

We are currently hiring for the following markets: Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tailored investment strategies using MPW’s open-architecture, multi-asset platform.
  • Proactively monitor and manage client portfolios in alignment with investment policy statements and industry best practices.
  • Lead client acquisition efforts, collaborating with MPW sales directors and independent advisors to identify opportunities and onboard new clients.
  • Drive business growth by strengthening client relationships and expanding Assets Under Management (AUM).
  • Utilize advanced financial planning tools and technology to deliver comprehensive, customized wealth plans.
  • Maintain a disciplined approach to portfolio rebalancing, risk assessment, and performance monitoring.
  • Communicate MPW’s investment philosophy and risk management approach effectively to both existing and prospective clients.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and internal policies, mitigating risk for clients and the firm.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance service delivery, improve investment solutions, and optimize the client experience.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience providing discretionary investment management services to high-net-worth clients.
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field (MBA or equivalent considered an asset).
  • CFA designation or CFA Level 3 Candidate (TEP or CFP designations are considered an asset).
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) as an Advising Representative with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).
  • Deep expertise in global markets and investment strategies, with a strong understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance best practices, and the operational infrastructure of private wealth management.
  • Technologically proficient, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and portfolio management tools.

Salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
