The Administrative Support V is an advanced position reporting directly to the Site Executive Director (ED), Royal Alexandra Hospital. Working closely with the offices of Senior Operating Officers and Executive Directors across the site, zone and province, this position requires extensive knowledge, skill, and ability to efficiently navigate the healthcare environment with a high degree of independence. Working with limited supervision, this position requires fully developed, specialized skills to independently and efficiently support all activities of the diverse programs on site and to appropriately handle confidential and politically sensitive information and situations. The incumbent must exercise judgement, discretion, and independent decision making across the spectrum of activities and provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to other administrative staff within the portfolio. Working within a fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands, the incumbent is expected to act as a delegate for the Executive Director and as an information conduit within the portfolio, clinical divisions, RAH and other AHS sites, Zone, and Provincial partners. The incumbent will be responsible to make independent decisions to navigate and solve problems effectively.

As an Administrative Support V, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).

Completion of an Administrative Professional diploma or equivalent with experience in a health care environment is required along with an advanced knowledge of computer technology. Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in an administrative position required. Advanced knowledge of AHS administrative systems, financial and human resources processes and policies required. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high demand environment. Experience in complex calendar management, organizing information, preparing agendas, minute recording, composing correspondence, preparing complex reports and presentations, table and project management is required. Gathering resource and background material. Requires excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Requires independent judgement, initiative, responsibility, and action. Must be proactive, flexible, and able to work with competing priorities, variety, and complexity of issues. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Netscape, MS Projects, and Visio) and interoffice communication systems. Working within a complex organization on innovative projects proposals and planning studies. Demonstrated leadership planning, priority setting, and time management skills required.

Annual education includes Customer Service, Diversity Training, AHS Ethics, and Collect It, Protect It. WHIMIS, Workplace Health and Safety, and Emergency. Response Code courses are an asset.
