Willow Square Continuing Care Centre in Fort McMurray includes 36 long term and palliative care spaces and 72 supportive living spaces. Its high standard of thoughtful design features lots of natural light, private rooms with zero-threshold showers, landscaped pathways, and gardens to make it feel like home. It’s also the first Alberta Infrastructure to use geothermal heating and is set up to add solar panels and 36 spaces in the future. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Knowledge of Medication Assistance Program (MAP). Ability to support the HCAs who participate in this program. Strong communication and leadership skills. The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to work well independently and within a team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision-making ability. Required to work to full scope of practice of LPN.

Have 1 to 2 years recent experience in LTC/ Supportive living / Seniors Health. Understanding of collaborative care and resident focus care. Dementia Care Training (i.e. Supportive Pathway, P.I.E.C.E.S). Experience working with Palliative Care clients and families. Palliative care education an asset. Advanced Foot care training and experience preferred. Wound Care experience preferred. Experience working in a Charge role.
